I love watching Sky’s NOW (Formerly NOW TV) Video on Demand service, but want to pay less? With this list of NOW deals, hacks, and special offers – you can significantly lower the price you pay.
NOW was meant to be Sky’s answer to Netflix and cord-cutters – a cheap TV service that didn’t require a long contract, gave you flexible (“membership”) packages of content, and could be watched on a variety of streaming devices and smart devices. TVs. But is it really cheap?
If you compare NOW to a Sky (or similar) subscription – yes (but remember – even… Your Sky bill could be reduced (With some bargaining). If you compare it to Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video – the value for money changes, especially if you combine several NOW memberships (Watch my full review of NOW TV).
Regular NOW prices for the three main content packages (“Memberships”) are:
- Now entertainmentusually at £9.99/m With Sky’s TV channels, including Sky Atlantic and children’s content.
- Now cinemausually at £9.99 per month. Identical to the Sky Cinema plan on Sky, with new blockbusters and older films.
- Now Sky Sportsusually at £34.99 per month. Almost identical to Sky Sports on Sky (with Racing, Mix and News being part of this membership rather than Entertainment).
Then there Now pushwhich costs £6 per month. It’s an add-on that adds Full HD (1080p) video quality, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, no ads (for on-demand content – you’ll still see ads on Sky’s live channels), and the ability to stream on up to 3 channels. Devices at the same time (instead of just one device).

In addition to the variable monthly deals, there were several ways to get cheaper NOW tickets.
Unfortunately, many of these services are no longer working — but fortunately, there are still ways to lower the amount you’re paying for now (even for free in some cases).
Now Mobile Sports Card
Sky Sports Mobile Pass It was first introduced in 2018and at £5.99 per month, this was a cheap alternative to the regular Sky Sports Pass subscription found on NOW, which usually costs £34.99 per monthor £11.98 For a daily ticket.
Then, in 2020, Mobile Pass was cancelled, and is no longer available for purchase on its own. However…there’s a trick that keeps coming up that lets you get a mobile phone pass for several months – very cheaply.
Mobile Pass can only be watched on a mobile phone, so not on your TV, or even on a tablet or computer, and you can’t use Apple’s AirPlay or Chromecast to stream it to your TV.
Also, Mobile Pass is limited to just 5 Sky Sports channels, out of the 11 channels available in the full membership – and you can only watch them live, without any on-demand content:
- Sky Sports Premier League – Home of live Premier League matches.
- Sky Sports Action – Designed for rugby, NFL, NBA and other general sports.
- Sky Sports Arena – More general sports including Premier League, darts and boxing.
- Sky Sports Racing – Designed for horse racing.
- Sky Sports News – A 24-hour sports news channel covering all sports with a focus on football.
Furthermore, although you can register Mobile Pass on up to 6 separate devices (smartphones), you can only watch on one phone at a time.
How to get a Sky Sports Mobile Pass in 2023
the Sports Day + Mobile Month Membership The offer is given to you one day From a FULL NOW Sky Sports membership (so you can watch all the sports channels on NOW, on a regular TV, for one day), plus a ‘bonus’ of Sky Sports Mobile Pass.
The length of that “bonus” changes from time to time (and sometimes disappears altogether). As of this writing, He is 9 months old.
So, you can get a full 9 months of Sky Sports Mobile Pass (plus one day of the ‘normal’ pass) – for just £11.98.
It doesn’t happen every month – it’s a one-off payment of £11.98, and you’ll get the mobile pass for the entire period.
Once you sign up, you will receive your 1 month mobile membership within 10 working days – So don’t expect to get it right away.
Small print: Once the ‘bonus’ months are up – your Mobile Pass will be automatically canceled (since it’s not currently ‘on’ for direct purchase) – though, hopefully you’ll be able to sign up for it again on the same day pass trick.
NOW TV Free Trials (New Customers Only)
There’s nothing like free – and if you’re a new NOW customer, you used to be able to get a free 7-day trial for Entertainment Pass/Cinema Pass memberships (the Sports membership had no free trial at all).
Unfortunately, these free trials are no longer available as standalone offers (at least for now – they occasionally reappear in some form).
- Right now, you can get a free 7-day trial of a cinema membership – but only if you sign up for the 6-month entertainment package.
The only NOW membership that currently offers a free trial is that of hayu – It is an additional channel containing more than 9000 episodes of reality shows, fresh from the United States.
hayu is available on multiple platforms (Amazon Prime Video, standalone app, etc.) – But it’s also part of NOW, so you can get it free for 7 days.
You can also usually get free trials for Now push Add-on (for HD streaming and no ads) – either 7 days, or sometimes a full month – but this trial is usually only associated with other paid memberships.
Small print: After seven days, you will be subscribed Automatically renewedand you’ll be charged for a full month – so don’t forget to cancel if you decide the service isn’t for you.
Where to get it: Via the official website.
Buy cheaper now passes on eBay
You can sometimes find discounted NOW tickets, even without a box, On eBay – You get a coupon code, which you then use to activate the card on the NOW website.
There were a lot of those, but since then NOW no longer manufactures NOW TV Smart Sticks (or boxes) – You won’t find these packages on eBay very often.
Small print: When you buy directly from someone, especially on eBay, make sure to check that person’s reviews first, so you don’t get scammed. Remember – if a price sounds too good to be true – it probably is.
Where to get it: Now going on eBay
Cancel and get a cheaper rate (for existing customers)
If you’re already a NOW subscriber (or about to become one), there’s a trick that will often get you a lower monthly price for a limited time: try to cancel.
As we all know well, when you call to cancel a “traditional” pay TV subscription, call center staff try to convince you to stay with a better deal.
Well, the same thing happens sometimes – and automatically – on the NOW website, without you having to contact anyone. If you get the offer, it’ll usually be a discounted monthly price for the ticket you were trying to cancel — but for a limited time (several months, usually).
Also, if you end up canceling, NOW will sometimes send you return offers to your email (I once got an offer for a leisure membership for just £1 a month, for three months).
Small print: If you’ve used this offer recently, you probably won’t get it again, at least for a while.
Where to get it: First, make sure you have an active subscription to a pass. Then go To the official website And try to cancel it. You’ll pass through two screens trying to convince you to stay – and at some point, they’ll ask you why you’re cancelling.
Tell them the price is too expensive – at which point, you might as well take the discounted offer (don’t stop until you see the offer, and don’t be afraid to overdo it) – because with NOW, you can always re-subscribe without any penalties or connection fees.)
Now offers broadband + TV on the official websites
As a cord cutter, I get nervous when I start seeing words like “12-month contract.” TV is now used for this display Broadband packages Without a long contract, unfortunately, those days are over. However, you might still like the broadband prices (with a 12-month package) – so it never hurts to check them out.
The NOW angle is that with their broadband package, they sometimes offer discounts on entertainment and movie tickets.
Small print: If you’re not in the market for a new broadband package, this isn’t for you.
