Slow Cooker Chicken Breast with Gravy

Slow Cooker Chicken Breast with Gravy

  • Author: Marie Lavigne
  • Total Time: 6 hours and 10 minutes (low) or 3 hours and 10 minutes (high) - based on prep + cook time.
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

2 cups chicken broth

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for a gluten-free option)

Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Place them in the slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken broth and flour until smooth. Pour this mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
  4. Once cooked, remove the chicken breasts from the slow cooker. If the gravy needs thickening, turn the slow cooker to high and let the gravy cook uncovered for a few minutes until it reaches the desired consistency.
  5. Serve the chicken breasts with the gravy poured over them. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes:

  • For a thicker gravy, you can mix an additional tablespoon of flour (or cornstarch) with a little water and stir it into the gravy during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
