Slow Cooker Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks, skin-on
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the chicken drumsticks.
  2. In the slow cooker, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the sauce.
  3. Add the chicken drumsticks to the slow cooker and toss them gently to coat with the sauce.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  5. Optional: For a caramelized finish, place the cooked drumsticks on a baking sheet, brush with some of the sauce from the slow cooker, and broil for 2-3 minutes until slightly charred.
  6. Serve warm with your choice of sides.

Notes:

    • For a thicker sauce, you can remove the drumsticks once cooked, pour the sauce into a small saucepan, and simmer until reduced to your desired consistency.
    • Customize the spice mix to suit your preferences or try adding a splash of orange juice to the sauce for a citrusy twist.
