Ingredients
Scale
- 1 jar (16 oz) maraschino cherries with stems, drained
- 12 oz of your preferred chocolate (dark, milk, or white), chopped
- Optional: Liquor for soaking cherries, crushed nuts, or sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
-
- If using, soak cherries in liquor overnight, then drain and pat dry. Otherwise, begin with patting the drained cherries dry with paper towels.
- Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Alternatively, melt chocolate in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between.
- Holding by the stem, dip each cherry into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Gently shake off excess chocolate and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- If desired, sprinkle with crushed nuts or sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
- Refrigerate the cherries for at least 1 hour until the chocolate is firm.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a boozy twist, soak the cherries in brandy, rum, or your liquor of choice overnight before coating.
- Customize your chocolate covered cherries by double dipping in different chocolates or adding various toppings like crushed nuts or coconut.
