Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Gradually beat the flour mixture into the butter mixture until well blended. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For softer cookies, bake at the lower end of the time range.
  • Dough can be refrigerated for up to 48 hours before baking if desired.
