- Brownie Batter:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 and 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
- Salted Caramel:
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons (90ml) water
- 4 tablespoons (60g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in sugar, cocoa, and salt. Remove from heat; cool slightly.
- Stir in vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Mix in flour until combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Spread batter in pan.
- For caramel, combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring until amber. Add butter and cream; stir until smooth. Mix in sea salt.
- Pour half the caramel over batter, swirl. Bake 25-30 minutes. Top with remaining caramel and extra salt. Cool before slicing.

- For a deeper flavor, brown the butter before adding the sugar and cocoa.
